Sandhills Mobile Visitor Center
March 18, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 11:00 am on Sunday and Saturday, repeating until April 30, 2017
The Sandhills Mobile Visitor Center at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park is now located in the day-use parking area, and is open weekends from 11am to 3pm. The mobile visitor center introduces to visitors the unique, fragile and diverse Santa Cruz Sandhills. Santa Cruz Sandhills are found only within this County, which makes the catchphrase “Only in Santa Cruz” fit well here. The exhibits focus on plants and animals living in the Sandhills including the Santa Cruz kangaroo rat and Mount Hermon June beetle. Visitors will get to know each creature’s secrets to survival in the dry and often hot sand they call home.
The mobile visitor center will return to the Henry Cowell campground located off Graham Hill Road at the end of April for the summer season. For more information, please call (831) 335-7077 visit us on the web at www.parks.ca.gov. Vehicle day-use fee is $10. This mobile visitor center is made possible by Mountain Parks Foundation and Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks.
